Soviet
Army
The Red Army became a massive and effective force during World War II, employing strategies like deep operations. They showed remarkable resilience in battles such as Stalingrad and Kursk, ultimately pushing back against Nazi Germany and capturing Berlin, marking their critical role in the Allied victory.
The Red Army in the Battle for Berlin (April–May 1945) represented the peak of Soviet military power at the end of World War II. Numbering over 2.5 million troops, supported by thousands of tanks, artillery pieces, and aircraft, the Soviet forces under Marshals Zhukov and Konev launched a massive assault to capture the German capital and end the war in Europe. The attacking forces included elite Guards armies, tank corps, and heavy artillery divisions, coordinated in a relentless urban offensive.
