German - DAK - Kubelwagons

The DAK Kübelwagen was one of the most widely used light utility vehicles of the German Afrika Korps during the North African Campaign of 1941–43. Based on the Volkswagen Type 1 and officially designated the Volkswagen Type 82, the Kübelwagen was lightweight, simple and remarkably capable across difficult desert terrain. It was used for a huge variety of roles including carrying officers and troops, reconnaissance, communications, liaison and transporting supplies between units. Its distinctive open body and excellent mobility made the Kübelwagen a common sight alongside German Panzer and motorised formations, becoming one of the most recognisable vehicles associated with the Afrika Korps.
