The British Airborne Sniper was a specially trained marksman serving with the 1st and 6th Airborne Divisions during World War II. Equipped primarily with the Lee-Enfield No.4(T) sniper rifle fitted with a telescopic sight, airborne snipers were tasked with eliminating high-value targets such as officers, machine-gun crews, and enemy observers, while also conducting reconnaissance and providing intelligence for their units. Their training emphasised camouflage, concealment, fieldcraft, and patience, enabling them to operate independently in difficult and often isolated conditions.

British airborne snipers saw action during the Normandy landings, Operation Market Garden, and the Rhine Crossing, where they provided accurate long-range fire in support of airborne assaults. Often operating in pairs, they used their skill to disrupt enemy defences, cover advancing troops, and counter opposing snipers. Despite being lightly equipped compared to conventional infantry, British airborne snipers played an important role in helping airborne units hold key objectives until relieved by advancing Allied ground forces.
