The British Churchill Mk. IV Fascine Carrier was a specialised assault engineering vehicle developed to help armoured units overcome obstacles such as anti-tank ditches, trenches, and craters during World War II. Based on the rugged and heavily armoured Churchill Mk. IV chassis, the turret was often retained, but the vehicle carried a large fascine bundle—a tightly bound mass of brushwood or timber—mounted on the front hull. When deployed, the fascine was dropped into a ditch or obstacle, creating a makeshift crossing that allowed following tanks and vehicles to pass over safely.

Used by units of the 79th Armoured Division, the Churchill Fascine Carrier played an important role during the Normandy landings (June 1944) and subsequent operations in Northwest Europe. Its heavy armour allowed it to operate under enemy fire while placing the fascine, and its robust suspension helped it manoeuvre across difficult terrain. Though simple in concept, the fascine system proved highly effective, demonstrating how practical engineering adaptations could significantly enhance the mobility of Allied forces during assault operations.
