The German Hetzer, officially known as the Jagdpanzer 38(t), was a compact and highly effective tank destroyer used during World War II. Based on the Czech Panzer 38(t) chassis, the Hetzer was armed with a potent 7.5cm Pak 39 L/48 anti-tank gun, capable of defeating most Allied tanks. Its design featured angled armor up to 60mm thick, which provided excellent protection despite its light weight, and the low profile made it difficult to detect and target. The Hetzer was both mobile and relatively inexpensive to produce, making it a practical solution for Germany’s defensive needs during the later stages of the war. Primarily used on the Eastern and Western Fronts, the Hetzer excelled in ambush tactics and defensive roles, proving especially effective in rugged and urban environments. Its combination of firepower, armor, and mobility made it one of the most successful German tank destroyers of the war.
