British - Airborne 1944 - Para Section (Airlanding)

The British Parachute Section (1944) was the basic fighting unit of the Parachute Regiment, serving within the 1st and 6th Airborne Divisions during World War II. Delivered by parachute deep behind enemy lines, these elite volunteers were trained to operate independently, seize key objectives, and hold them until relieved by advancing ground forces. A typical section consisted of around 10 men, armed with Lee-Enfield rifles, Sten submachine guns, a Bren light machine gun, grenades, and PIAT anti-tank launchers, giving them a well-balanced mix of firepower and mobility.
 
British parachute troops fought in some of the war’s most famous airborne operations, including the Normandy landings, Operation Market Garden, and the Rhine Crossing. Renowned for their rigorous training, aggressive spirit, and determination, they frequently operated while isolated and outnumbered, relying on initiative, discipline, and teamwork to achieve their objectives. Their courage in battles such as Arnhem and the defence of the Orne bridges established the Parachute Regiment as one of the most respected elite infantry forces of the Second World War.
