The Panther Ausf. G with Schürzen was an upgraded version of the German Panther tank, introduced late in World War II. The Ausf. G model included several design improvements, such as a simplified hull with reinforced armor, better crew accommodations, and an upgraded suspension system. Schürzen, or thin armored side skirts, were added to the Panther’s sides to protect its vulnerable lower hull and tracks from anti-tank rifles and shaped charges, like the Soviet PTRD rifle. Armed with the powerful 75mm KwK 42 L/70 gun, the Panther Ausf. G could engage and destroy most Allied tanks at long range. This variant saw action on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, where its combination of firepower, armor, and mobility made it one of the most respected and feared German tanks of the war, despite ongoing issues with mechanical reliability.
