USA - M26 Pershing
The M26 Pershing was a U.S. heavy tank introduced late in World War II to counter powerful German tanks like the Panther and Tiger I. Armed with a 90mm M3 gun, it had strong frontal armor, a torsion bar suspension, and a fully rotating turret, making it a significant leap over the earlier M4 Sherman in both firepower and protection.
The M26 first saw combat in February 1945 during the fighting in Germany, including limited use in the Battle of Remagen. Though it arrived too late to have a major impact on the war in Europe, the Pershing provided a glimpse of future U.S. tank design and went on to serve prominently in the Korean War, where it proved highly effective against North Korean armor.
