The T-35A, a Soviet heavy tank, was developed in the early 1930s and became operational in 1935. It was unique for its multi-turreted design, featuring five turrets: one main turret with a 76.2mm gun and four smaller turrets armed with 45mm guns and machine guns. This configuration aimed to provide comprehensive firepower against both infantry and armored targets. Despite its impressive armament, the T-35A suffered from several design flaws, including mechanical unreliability, slow speed, and thin armor, which made it vulnerable to more modern anti-tank weapons. Only about 60 units were produced, and they saw limited combat during the early stages of World War II, primarily during the Battle of Kiev in 1941, where most were lost due to mechanical failures rather than enemy action. The T-35A remains a symbol of the interwar period's experimental tank designs and the Soviet Union's attempts to create a formidable land battleship.
