The German Sd.Kfz. 250/9 Alte was a variant of the Sd.Kfz. 250 half-track armored vehicle, equipped with a 2cm KwK 38 autocannon. Introduced during World War II, this vehicle combined the mobility and versatility of the half-track design with enhanced firepower. The 2cm KwK 38 autocannon, mounted in an open-topped turret, provided rapid-fire capability against both ground and low-flying aerial targets, making the Sd.Kfz. 250/9 an effective reconnaissance and support vehicle. The "Alte" (old) designation refers to the initial production model with a distinctive angled hull and riveted construction. Its relatively light armor, however, offered limited protection against enemy fire. Despite this, the Sd.Kfz. 250/9's speed and firepower made it a valuable asset in reconnaissance missions and for providing suppressive fire during infantry engagements. It saw extensive use on various fronts, from the Eastern Front to Western Europe, throughout the war.
