The Ersatz M7 was a German improvised tank destroyer used during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944, as part of Operation Greif, a deception mission led by Otto Skorzeny. It was created by modifying captured American M3 half-tracks to resemble M7 Priest self-propelled guns, aiming to confuse Allied forces. Armed with German weapons and operated by troops in U.S. uniforms, the Ersatz M7 was part of Skorzeny's plan to infiltrate American lines, disrupt communications, and cause chaos behind enemy lines.
