The M18 Hellcat was a U.S. tank destroyer introduced in 1944, designed for speed and mobility. It was armed with a powerful 76mm gun capable of destroying most German tanks and had a lightweight, open-topped turret mounted on a fast chassis that could reach speeds of up to 55 mph (89 km/h) — making it the fastest tracked armored vehicle of World War II.
 
The M18 was used primarily in Europe, where it excelled in hit-and-run tactics, ambushes, and flanking maneuvers. Its light armor meant it couldn't withstand heavy fire, but in the right hands, it was highly effective. Crews relied on its speed to strike quickly and retreat, making the Hellcat a deadly tank killer when used tactically.
