The German Brummbär, or Sturmpanzer IV, was a heavily armored assault gun used during World War II, designed to support infantry in urban and fortified areas. Built on the Panzer IV chassis, it was armed with a powerful 150mm StuH 43 howitzer, capable of delivering devastating high-explosive rounds effective against buildings, bunkers, and enemy concentrations. With frontal armor up to 100mm thick, the Brummbär offered substantial protection, though its high profile and limited mobility made it vulnerable to anti-tank weapons. First deployed in 1943, it saw action on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, excelling in close support roles where its heavy firepower could break through fortified positions and support advancing infantry.
