US WWII Stowage refers to the equipment, supplies, and personal kit carried on American military vehicles to sustain crews during long operations. U.S. tanks, half-tracks, trucks, and jeeps were commonly loaded with tarpaulins, bedrolls, jerry cans, ammunition boxes, spare track links, tow cables, pioneer tools, ration boxes, water cans, fuel containers, camouflage nets, duffel bags, and personal packs. Crews often secured this equipment to the exterior of their vehicles using ropes, straps, or improvised tie-downs, making every vehicle unique in appearance.
 
As the war progressed, particularly during the campaigns in Northwest Europe and the Pacific, American crews carried increasing amounts of stowage to support extended operations away from supply depots. Additional fuel, spare parts, sandbags, logs, and captured equipment were often added to improve endurance or provide extra protection. While official stowage arrangements existed, frontline crews frequently adapted them to suit local conditions and personal preference, giving U.S. vehicles their distinctive, heavily laden appearance that has become synonymous with American armoured forces during World War II.
