The M8 Scott Howitzer Motor Carriage was a U.S. self-propelled artillery vehicle based on the M5 Stuart light tank chassis, developed to provide direct fire support for infantry and armored units. It was armed with a 75mm M3 howitzer mounted in an open-topped turret, allowing for high-angle fire against fortified positions and enemy infantry.
 
Introduced in 1942, the M8 Scott served with U.S. armored divisions in Italy, France, and the Pacific Theater, offering a balance of mobility and firepower, though its light armor made it vulnerable to anti-tank weapons. It was especially useful for supporting advances and clearing enemy strongpoints, and remained in frontline use until the end of the war.
