The SU-122 was a Soviet self-propelled howitzer based on the T-34 chassis, developed for infantry support and bunker busting. Armed with a 122mm M-30 howitzer, it was effective against fortifications and enemy positions, but less suited for anti-tank combat. Used extensively on the Eastern Front, it provided mobile artillery support, paving the way for later Soviet assault guns like the SU-152.
