The M21 Mortar Carrier was a U.S. self-propelled mortar vehicle based on the M3 Halftrack, used during World War II. It was armed with an 81mm M1 mortar, mounted to fire from inside the vehicle, and a .50 caliber M2 Browning machine gun for defense. Deployed in Western Europe, it provided mobile indirect fire support, but its open-top design left the crew exposed to enemy fire.
