German - DAK - Sniper Teams

The DAK Sniper Teams provided German forces in North Africa with accurate long-range fire, targeting enemy officers, observers, machine-gun crews and other important battlefield personnel. Typically equipped with a scoped Karabiner 98k, German snipers made effective use of concealment, careful positioning and the long lines of sight offered by the desert landscape. Operating individually or alongside a spotter, they could support infantry advances, defend key positions and disrupt enemy movement from concealed firing points. During the 1941–43 North African Campaign, skilled marksmen were a valuable addition to Afrika Korps infantry formations, particularly during the prolonged fighting around defensive positions and strongpoints.
