German - DAK - 5cm Mortar Moving

The DAK 5cm Mortar Team provided German infantry in North Africa with a lightweight source of close-range indirect fire support. Equipped with the 5 cm leichter Granatwerfer 36, the mortar could be carried by its crew as they advanced, allowing it to quickly relocate and keep pace with the highly mobile fighting of the desert campaign. It was used to engage enemy infantry, machine-gun positions and other targets hidden from direct fire, providing valuable support at platoon level. Although compact and portable, its limited range and relatively small explosive charge led to the weapon being gradually withdrawn as the war progressed, but it remained a characteristic German infantry support weapon during the 1941–42 North African campaigns.
 
This is a multi part model kit. We strongly recommend superglue to assemble.
