European Partizans - Rifle Armed Civilians

The European Partisans – Rifle Armed Civilians represent the countless ordinary people who took up arms against occupying forces across Europe during the Second World War. Often wearing everyday civilian clothing rather than uniforms, these resistance fighters were armed with whatever weapons could be obtained, including hunting rifles, pre-war military rifles, captured enemy weapons and Allied-supplied arms. They served as guards, scouts and fighters, taking part in ambushes, sabotage operations, raids and local uprisings, often using their knowledge of the surrounding countryside and towns to their advantage. Their varied appearance and equipment make them ideal for representing partisan and resistance forces across France, Italy, Poland, Yugoslavia, Greece and Eastern Europe.
