Diamond T 969A Wrecker
The Diamond T 969A Wrecker was a heavy-duty 6×6 recovery truck used extensively by Allied forces during the Second World War. Built in the United States as part of the Diamond T 4-ton truck family, it was equipped with a powerful recovery crane, winches and specialist equipment for recovering, towing and repairing damaged vehicles in the field. Rugged and dependable, the 969A could operate close behind advancing formations, helping keep everything from trucks and jeeps to heavier military vehicles moving. It served with the U.S. Army and was also supplied in significant numbers to Allied nations including Britain through Lend-Lease, seeing service in North Africa, Italy, Northwest Europe and other theatres. Its distinctive crane and heavy-duty chassis made the Diamond T Wrecker one of the most recognisable Allied recovery vehicles of WWII.
