The M3A1 "Satan" was a flamethrower tank developed by the U.S. Marines during World War II, based on the chassis of the M3A1 Stuart light tank. It replaced the main 37mm gun with a flamethrower, specifically designed for close-range assaults against Japanese bunkers, caves, and fortifications in the Pacific Theater.

The "Satan" was first used in combat during the Battle of Saipan in 1944, where it proved highly effective in clearing enemy positions that were otherwise resistant to conventional weapons. Though limited in number and range, the M3A1 "Satan" represented an early step in U.S. flamethrower tank development, paving the way for more advanced models like the M4A3R3 Sherman Zippo.
