German - Tank Stowage

German WWII Tank Stowage consisted of the equipment and supplies carried on armoured vehicles to support crews during extended combat operations. Tanks such as the Panzer III, Panzer IV, Panther, Tiger, and StuG commonly carried jerry cans, spare track links, tow cables, toolboxes, pioneer tools, camouflage nets, tarpaulins, ammunition boxes, spare road wheels, crew packs, ration crates, and personal equipment. Much of this gear was secured to the hull, engine deck, or turret using brackets, straps, or improvised rope, allowing crews to carry essential supplies while remaining mobile.
 
As the war progressed, especially on the Eastern Front and during the defence of Germany, crews increasingly added extra stowage to extend their operational endurance. Fuel shortages, long supply lines, and difficult terrain meant that spare parts, additional fuel cans, logs for vehicle recovery, and captured equipment were often carried wherever space allowed. Although German vehicles had designated storage compartments, frontline crews frequently customised their stowage to suit operational needs, giving each tank a distinctive appearance while improving its ability to remain in action for extended periods.
